Clinical Corner - WWC table for abnormal cervical results

Question: The ASCCP algorithms for following up after abnormal Pap and HPV results are sometimes difficult to understand, particularly for our new staff members. Is there a cheat sheet of some kind that could assist us with training new staff?

Answer: Below is a table created by WWC to assist agency staff in understanding these algorithms. Some agencies are now testing for HPV genotypes 16 and 18. HPV genotyping was recently added to the accepted CPT code list for use in WWC and this table includes the recommended follow-up in cases with genotyping results. Complete ASCCP algorithms can be found on the web page. Tip: bookmark these algorithms for quick access!
