Question: When is an initial mammogram entered into eCaST as a screening procedure and when is it entered as a diagnostic procedure?
Answer: When a patient is enrolled into WWC Clinical Services and receives an initial or routine CBE and a mammogram, that mammogram is considered a regular screening procedure and should be entered under screening procedures in eCaST. When a WWC Clinical Services patient receives a diagnostic mammogram as her initial mammogram, it should also be entered under screening procedures in eCaST.
However, if a patient has already been screened with an initial CBE and a mammogram paid for by non-WWC funds, and was further referred in to WWC for additional procedures/diagnostic work-up, the referral mammogram should be entered under diagnostic procedures in eCaST. The date of the mammogram referral must match the date of the first diagnostic procedure, in these cases. Please see the table below that summarizes the process.
